Re: [PLUG] monitor and rainbows

DON'T try this unless you really know what you are doing.  The Cathode ray tube is a capacitor which holds a large charge and the shock can kill you!

The yoke on the back of the cathode ray tube is most likely now loose from its designed location.  It is still firing the guns they are jsut no longer near aligned.  A tech who knows monitors can fix it and re-align the guns in under an hour.

The must have put it near a magnent .. the electron gun is off alignment.
You might be out of luck, but you can try putting a magnent near it to
re-focus it yourself. I've done this before and it worked... but if you mess
it up more please dont blame me.

Subject: [PLUG] monitor and rainbows

I just got my nice 20" monitor back from the movers, and it's
displaying white text in nice rainbows. Degaussing, my first guess,
doesn't do anything.

Anyone have any thoughts what might be happening, and, especially, if
I might be able to do something myself?

TIA.
