Yes, make-kpkg allows you to pass a custom string to the kernel name, so that modules don't overwrite each other and the kernel images all get a different name, so you could end up with kernel-image-2.4.19-w-acl-and-other-neat-stuff-ive-been-wanting-to-try, if you really wanted, although I might go for a slightly shorter name, myself. Debian's come a long way, baby. No, the install is still harder than it needs to be, but it seems like Woody was better than either potato or slink.
