No it won't. That's what "delayed" means, though whoever oomposed
that error message wasn't exactly a master of English grammar.

The point is that tar choked on something (> 2 GB file if not built
to support it--rebuild it, if so, device, named pipe, or some other
file it doesn't know how to deal with, so forth) earlier, but just a
single file (or several single files); not enough to abort the
backup.
