well this is kind of a hack, but if you don't want redhat et al's installers to see certain partitions, how about you delete their corresponding device files (ie use rm to "hide" hda6)? this isn't something i've ever done mind you, but i'd be curious to know if it works. similarly, you could actually change your partition types to something redhat doesn't want to touch (ie FAT32 or something even more obscure), if only for the duration of the install process, but this gets into playing-with-things-that-you-might-not-want-to-land... sean Attachment:
