Sadly, I've seen both business cards and printed advertisements with
this same error.

Note that Windows users who actually know what they're doing would
never do this. (\ and \\ mean very special things to Windows, and
those who know what they mean wouldn't use them out of place.)

Arguably, it's as much an error that Samba's smbclient will accept
//service in place of \\service (SMB may be a fairly proprietary
standard, but it's still a standard with a published syntax), though
it does make using smbclient from a Unix shell (which takes \s as
escapes) significantly less painful.
