According to the FHS, /usr/share is reserved for architecture-independent program data (like man pages, icons, etc). CUPS uses this for .ppd files, for example.


If anything, I think /home is probably the most appropriate place. I would be inclined to:

mkdir /home/family
chown -R root.family /home/family

Add your family members to the group 'family'.
