Even in the mighty Windows OS it is sometimes necessary or desireable to
download a device driver. Making everything automatic and transparent
backfires when you want control or something goes wrong. Of course,
doing everthing the hard way can backfire. Better to have a choice.
Linux offers that choice, at least recently.
