| Yes, something weird is going on with .org queries. I noticed the same | thing yesterday. So far, I've not had problems on any .com, .net, or | .int queries, but haven't gotten any .org queries to work. Also debian | here, but I just tried two queries on a redhat box and got the same | results. your "whois" program is querying network solutions' whois server. recently, maintenance of ".org" was transitioned from netsol to pir[1], and netsol no longer responds to ".org" queries. either query pir, or use a newer smarter whois client: whois -h whois.pir.org MEDIARESEARCH.ORG part of the transition is converting the '.org' registry from "thin" to "fat" (changing where the data (such as contact info) is stored). each of the various registrars (the company that you registered the domain with) is converting at its own pace, so until it is complete, the official '.org' servers may not yet have the data (which is what you are seeing). open-source aficionados will be happy to note that '.org' is now running on postgresql. --jeff [1] www.pir.org _________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.netisland.net/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.netisland.net/mailman/listinfo/plug
