[PLUG] Re: how kernel compiling works


BTW, Libranet offers a script which:
1. Dumps you into xconfig, with the current kernel options 
already set (equivalent to first running 'make oldconfig'), and
2. Performs all the other steps, including adding the new kernel
to grub

While purists may not like the idea of multiple steps being
performed without first confirming that the previous step completed
without errors, it does work.

Libranet is a newbie-friendly way of getting access to the power of
Debian...I cannot recommend it enough.
