The problem is that we are sophisticated users... we KNOW that email is not private. The typical email user is unaware about how email works much less the nature of the networks that it travels over. That will change - but slowly.

HIPPA will change all that once the lawsuits begin to flow... starting about 15 April. (The first phase of the HIPPA regs kick in on 14 April, and the lawyers already smell "class action" dollars flowing into their pockets.)
