Re: [PLUG] Power Supply Needed: suggestions?

You might as well replace the power supply . Then, you could still buy a new PC and have two.

Do *not* buy a PowMax power supply.

My brother-in-law bought a generic power supply from CompUSA and it works fine. From what I've read, weight is a sign of quality due to the bigger heat sinks and such. Something over 300W would be reasonable since many new supplies are higher wattage. For an older PC there is no reason to go to a "premium" brand.

Well, my power supply just blew. :(

The second one since I've had this computer. :'(

The first was a 250W, this was a 300W, ATX. Should I go bigger? I think
it's lack of qualty rather than lack of power, but I will probably step
up.

Does anybody have any extras? :D or suggestions on where to get a
half-decent one inexpensively? Good brands? brands to avoid?

I am contomplating getting a case & power supply (I currently have a mid
tower, I think a full tower or something would be in order.) ...

(actually, I am probably due for a new motherboard or barebones computer
too, but I think I will start a different thread for suggestions
there... hmm... should I mark this OT? :P )
