Hrm. Paul's suggestion that this could be heat is pretty reasonable.
Does your BIOS tell you what temperature your processor is? Do you
have packages under whatever OS you're running (I'm not assuming
Linux, but it actually doesn't matter much; the smarts for
monitoring are mostly dependent on your BIOS) to tell you the same
information while under usual load?

Also, what processor is this? Are you sure it's sufficiently cooled?

Not necessarily a good sign. The "million ants can't be wrong"
approach doesn't inherently apply here...

Again, what makes you so sure it's permanently damaged?

About the same as premium case brands, or at least OEMed by those
companies. Antec and Superdot (erm, SuperMicro? Microdot? Something
like that...) come to mind.

ExtremeTech says:

Power Supply: Some of our favorite cases from Antec and Enermax
include name-brand power supplys. If not, get a good one, because
generic power supplies can often be the cause of strange glitches
and crashes. Also make sure it supports the newer motherboard power
  connections called ATX12V.

They also have a section of specific power supply models:

which reminds me of another good name, True Blue.
