Good luck with it. Worst case, drop me a line. You bring your box and
I'll bring mine to a common location, and we'll compare configurations
to find out what needs fixing.
FYI, I let Debian give me a KDE default until I realized that sucker
was chewing up 20% of CPU. I've switched to Blackbox, with GKrellM for
panel goodies.
Also, very important -- DISABLE SUSPEND and DO NOT INSTALL LM_SENSORS.
My own homework indicated that either of those can give grief with
Thinkpads.
