Um. There's room for subgroups, don't'cha think? And intersecting groups? A whole Venn Diagram of Unix-like operating system interest groups? Well there is theory and practice. Just relaying how things went *wrong* in the transition from one to the other. Besides the bad experience with one of these groups reducing the diversity of a really nice LUG, I'm not enthusiastic in general about user groups that discriminate based on gender, race, religion, etc. I mean, how well would it go over with the community if the guys started "Linux Dudez" (there is a more obvious play on Linux Chix that I'll leave to the imagination). Creating a group based on such a criteria only serves to divide the community, not to unify. Exclusive, bah. Separate for interests or methods of expression common to the small group but distinct from the large, perhaps.
