My bf got a new PowerMac G4 running OS X. He plugged it in where his old OS 9 iMac used to be. His ethernet connections keep dying, repairable by power cycling the hub.
Did it work okay with the iMac? What else is plugged into the hub? Does that work?
Does the box loose it's link to the hub, or does it just not do anything? Check that each end negotiated the same link, otherwise you'll have issues.
I tried moving him to a different port, and also switching his port from auto to 100, but it doesn't solve the problem.
I'd try the hub with another device and a different cable between it and the Mac. It may just be that the hub and the NIC don't like each other and you have to force each end to 100BaseT and half-duplex (unless it's really a switch, where you'd want full-duplex).
