Thanks, John,  Ironically the guy *is* in the same predicament as me.  
His initial problem is that he can't start fluxbox under kdm.  He asks 
for advice.  The responses help him get it running, but nobody addresses 
getting it running *under kdm.*  I started out in the same predicament 
he ended up in.  I can get fluxbox started, just can't get kdm to launch it.
