..in this the canonincal name is clearly the right
hand side:

hagibis                       IN A
darna                         IN A
www                           IN CNAME hagibis
debug                         IN CNAME darna

or even:

@                             IN A
www                           IN CNAME @
ftp                           IN CNAME @

(straight out of my working zone files.)
