I don't think there's a minimum length or a contract - one of the advantages
over DSL.

They don't care if you cancel and resignup - just use a different phone
number such as a cellular to key the new account off of and return your
'old' box to one of the offices in person. You'll lose your @comcast.net
eddresses though...
