[PLUG] sparc linux silo problem

I have a sparcstation 5 that I was running Aurora Linux on, but then decided 
to try Solaris 8 on.  Aurora worked
fine before Solaris.  I decided that Solaris was too slow and wanted to 
switch back to Linux, but after re-installing linux SILO fails.  I don't get 
any error message,  it just says "Program terminated."

Any thoughts?
