Re: [PLUG] handspring and linux dial-up

I was thinking of setting up dial up to my network just for the fun of it, but decided to go with dial-up from DCANET because it is only 10 bucks a month. I did find an SSH client for palm. It is called top gun ssh. I tried it out today and was able to run lynx remotely with my visor.

Wouldn't it be less expensive to get a dial-up account with an ISP for $10 to $15 per month?

The way I understand the question, he wants to use the phone for *wireless* dial-up access. Also, I sensed an implication that he wanted to *access data on his home network*. I'm not sure an ISP solves these issues for him. If he planned to use the Visor as a modem for a laptop, perhaps ssh would be a more elegant solution, but if he wants to use the Visor, not only as modem, but as the remote computer, too, I have never seen an ssh client for the Palm OS.

I don't think it would be difficult to config a PPP server. Check out this info: http://en.tldp.org/HOWTO/PPP-HOWTO/ppp-server.html
