On a system with only 64M ram I would not run any of the desktops that use up system resources. Also dosemu works great. Also make a kernel that uses the least amount of memory for these legacy systems. Debian has a great package for creating custom kernels called make-kpkg. You can compile the kernel on your workstation which creates a deb file with all of the modules included. W.
