[PLUG] deadkeys

When installing Linux on this machine, I chose to use dead keys because I do a lot of word processing and like to use the section mark (0168), the em dash (0151), the accented e (0233), and the n with a tilde. Now, I can't get a tilde or double quote at all. I've learned to hit the single quote twice to get a single quote, but that's all I can get to work.

Additionally, I tried using the KDE keyboard applet that is supposed to be able to toggle dead keys, but they always seem on.

Help?!
