thanks for the info.
final question: are php and MySQL current technology for dynamic web pages?
i stopped programming with C, and did not engaged in web stuff,

it is time to get up to speed. i want to learn current methodologies.
am i on the right track

I would recommend PostgreSQL instead of MySQL because it allows for stored procedures. J2EE is extremely nice for webpage development. There's a large learning curve, but the power and speed are worth the effort.
