Hello all - Fairly new member, I've been to the past two meetings. I'm looking into the possibility of setting up a fax/email broadcast system for the non-profit organization where I am currently employed as a website maintainer. We have an extensive list of people and organizations to whom we regularly send "email / fax broadcasts," that is, news updates in email or fax form depending on how the person has requested their receipt. Currently this is done via paid service, but because of various companies buying eachother out and shifting technology, no one is currenly able to use the system at the moment. I realize a decent sysadmin could implement such a system on their own, my reading suggests Hylafax, CUPS, Mailman, and some smart scripting could do it. No one here is qualified to be any kind of sysadmin (I might do for an intern), and to date this is an MS shop excepting a debian stable box I keep in the back in the hopes that maybe I'll have a chance to do something useful and open some minds. Wondering whether anyone has tried something like this, would advise, or wants to stop me now before I open a huge backdoor (compared to our MS servers??) and get all our systems hacked? ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
