I hold the belief that having 'Linux applications' running under Window$ initially is a way to transition people to Linux. If they can use the same applications that they're now used to, and those applications work as good or better under Linux, switching to Linux would be less of an issue. But, you would have to enlighten those people before a well meaning friend (M$ drone) convinces them to buy into the M$ world.
