I didn't reply before, as my CID modem is on a phone line without caller ID. On my system, mgetty is attached to a modem on ttyS3, and the log is in /var/log/mgetty.ttyS3 . The output looks like: 01/06 08:57:06 yS3 checking if modem is still alive 01/06 08:57:06 yS3 mdm_send: 'AT' -> OK 01/06 08:57:06 yS3 waiting... 01/06 09:15:23 yS3 wfr: waiting for ``RING'' 01/06 09:15:23 yS3 send: ATA[0d] 01/06 09:15:23 yS3 waiting for ``CONNECT'' 01/06 09:16:16 yS3 found action string: ``NO CARRIER'' 01/06 09:16:16 ##### failed A_FAIL dev=ttyS3, pid=2869, caller='none', conn='', name='' -- 01/06 09:16:16 yS3 mgetty: experimental test release 1.1.26-Apr16 01/06 09:16:16 yS3 check for lockfiles 01/06 09:16:16 yS3 locking the line 01/06 09:16:16 yS3 lowering DTR to reset Modem 01/06 09:16:17 yS3 send: \d\d\d+++\d\d\dAT[0d] 01/06 09:16:20 yS3 waiting for ``OK'' ** found ** 01/06 09:16:20 yS3 send: AT&F2[0d] 01/06 09:16:20 yS3 waiting for ``OK'' ** found ** etc... That last line of AT&F2 is the factory 2 setup command I've used to configure the modem on reset. You should see it change when you adjust the mgetty config. You see caller='none' in my case, because no caller ID info is on that phone line. -- Kevin Brosius ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
