I can 'modprobe > psmouse' and then get X to run. This is loaded via hotplug at boot. > > Then only thing I can think of that might have caused this was that I was > working on getting sound to work. At one point I had run > 'update-modules'. I have googled and googled but can't figure this out. ISTR that 2.6 kernels use a different loader than 2.4 kernels, and the Debian layout for them is slightly different. I would guess that the psmouse module isn't being loaded because there is no alias for whatever X is looking for (/dev/psaux or /dev/usb/mouse or something) to the module psmouse. I do see it in /etc/modprobe.d/aliases, but maybe yours is missing for some reason. You can add it to /etc/modprobe.conf if need be. -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Stephen Gran | <Knghtbrd> I SNEAK TO BUN <Knghtbrd> | | steve@lobefin.net | HELP ME FOR TO QUACK <Venom> kb: what | | http://www.lobefin.net/~steve | the hell are you talking about? | | | <Knghtbrd> bwahahaha..
