I admin a list where I moderate subscriptions, not posts. It has to be a lot easier than screening posts. Subscription approvals are based on a short line either indicating a referral or why the person wants to subscribe. In the 7 or 8 years since I've had it, we've never had a spam post. (Once or twice had a problem with people like the guy, "Howard", that posted to this list for a while, but I don't see how you could ever avoid that.) Does mailman allow this?
