The storage industry is experiencing a flurry of innovation. Whereas
many storage management problems used to be unsolvable or required
unique solutions, there are now many new ways to "skin the cat." This
class will help you make sense out of all of these new storage
management, data protection and backup systems technologies. We
discuss the technologies at a technical level in the context of the
problems they purport to solve and can help identify which one are
relevant to your organization.
This class also addresses the topic of backups--why are they still
such a pain?! After years of relatively little technology innovation,
there is suddenly a whirlwind of new technologies for enforcing data
protection policies. Many of these technologies are affordable add-ons
to existing backup systems. Others are point solutions that work
independently.
*Lecture Agenda*
8:30-9am: Registration, breakfast
9am-12:30pm: Next Generation Storage Networking, Data Protection &
Backup Systems
12:30-2pm: Lunch, informal lecture follow up, demos, Q&A
