TiVo can be hooked up in many ways, including over-the-air with an
antenna, analog cable w/o a cable box, satellite/digital cable with
component video input from the satellite/digital cable box.

Can you record analog without renting another analog box: yes.
Can you record analog without renting another digital box: yes
Can you record HD content: Not in HD, sorry.

I have Comcast basic service (analog only). I can't stand the thought
of paying rediculous prices for digital content especially with HD
OTA rolling out.
