Broadband is nearing utility type services, they provide the same results for the service offering. I have had comcast for years with very few issues.

Yes, the lease is not a long one. I can see in my firewall's logs the renewals. With one exception where comcast did some network upgrades, the ip will not change unless you leave the modem off for extended periods or change the ethernet interface of the firewall.

I have been using it for years. On debian based systems, apt-get yourself 'ddclient'. Ddclient will keep your dyndns.org host-domain address renewed.
