PLUG West is off and rolling! We met last night at Unisys in Malvern, which is a great meeting space. Thanks very much to Unisys for being such wonderful hosts. The seats are comfortable, the acoustics are excellent, and they even provided cookies. We had around thirty attendees, most of whom had never been to a PLUG meeting. The Unisys Linux Systems Group gave a series of short presentations. They had five lined up, but we ran out of time after three. The three presentations were on Xen, Linux filesystem performance, and challenges encountered running Linux on very large-scale systems. There was a lot of great technical information, and I hope we'll be able to hear the other two topics at a future meeting. After the presentation we were able to tour the Unisys Linux labs, and viewed the geneology of Unisys's high-end Linux hardware platform. (And don't forget the Univac in the lobby!) Drawing on the locals' knowledge of the Great Valley area, we then repaired to the Boathouse for post-event beers. They had a nice assortment on tap, including the excellent Flying Fish Hopfish IPA. Thanks to everyone who showed up and helped make the first PLUG West meeting a success.
