BIND is only a headache for large installations. Running it for a small local network will not be an issue.

Whether you go BIND or djbdns, you're still going to have to learn the zone syntax. Personally, I think BIND is easier to work with from that standpoint. The djb stuff has better performance, but it can be pain to setup with its dependencies. Whereas BIND is already integrated into most Unix/Linux distributions.
