Except if you reply off-list then it's not going through mailman, so I don't 
think that's the case here.

There are settings on kmail that could cause this feature. You can associate a 
mail folder with a mailing list. If you do that any replies to mail in that 
folder will go to the mailing list by default. 

So if you have a folder for PLUG, filter all email with "[PLUG]" in the 
subject line (as opposed to using the list server headers) into the folder, 
then offlist replies will end up in the folder (possibly what you want) but 
then replies to those mails will go to the list.
