IBM Thinkpads have a little light on top of the screen that shines down on the keyboard. Two big problems with this compared to Apple's backlit keyboard: 1. You have to turn it on manually. 2. You can't adjust the light in either intensity or direction (well, except for moving the screen) Apple's backlit keyboard is the best execution of that idea I've ever seen, personally, and it got a little better at sensing the light with the MacBook Pro. > >Gnome or KDE environment running on X11, I may forgo installing Linux all > >together. Parallels is fantastic. Well worth the money. Although, if you don't mind waiting, VMware is supposed to have a product for Mac coming out fairly soon, and I believe they might release VMware Player for Mac (which is free). Either way, you'll be able to run whatever alongside OS X very easily. > >Overall, a pretty nice experience so far. > Battery life test please! First, calibrate the battery, and _then_ test it. Apple's batteries require calibration in order to get the full battery life out of them. Instructions on calibrating the battery in Chris' laptop are here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86284 The last section on that page is the one for MacBook Pro's. -- Toby DiPasquale ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
