Hald still stalled and failed, and I still have 48 serial > ports. out of curiosity, do you have a "udev" filesystem mounted? that is, what's the output of: mount | grep dev just another shot in the dark, but if udev wasn't mounting it's temporary filesystem, you might find yourself working on the underlying flatfile /dev filesystem, which might cause problems with hal (it'd also explain the large number of non-existant devices). sean Attachment:
