Wouldn't be a problem except it seems to mangle apt. As I write this apt is
installing security updates to firefox 1.5 and ooo 2.0, except I use ff 2 &
ooo 2.1, installed in /opt. I expect I wlll have to readjust symlinks, etc.

Not that big a deal there, but what happens when I upgrade a package apt
thinks it controls at a lower version?
