Something like this came up once before, about two or three years ago.
At the time, I approached Jeremy Johnson, chair of CS at Drexel, and
he was potentially interested in the exposure of Drexel CS being
involved in helping it happen at Drexel.  It died because the KDE
folks decided not to bear the risks and hassles of a conference in the
U.S., as I understand.

I'm no longer in Philadelphia, although I'm still officially
associated with Drexel CS until the end of the year.  This is to say,
I can't help by being your contact person, but I think if you do find
an inside person to help you there, you have a decent chance of
success in getting CS to help secure space.
