Yep. Unfortunately, turn-by-turn navigation (with voice prompts) is an optional
extra (reportedly ~$120 for a 3 year contract), and will be available "in
December".

thanks for balancing the view! i appreciate it; it's nice to have someone pulling us back to earth before we go hog-wild trying to get one so we can be up till 3am hacking it :)
