Re: [PLUG] Firewall Analysis

Brian,

I don't know about your other suggestions, but I think it's safe to rule out Nagios for firewall reporting.  Sure, you should write a plugin for it, but that's a lot of work and really outside of Nagios's original intent.

Just to be clear I'm not looking to reinvent the wheel. I'm looking for something similar to reporting and functionality found in Base(Free, Multi-Platform), Sonicwall Viewpoint($295, Windows) or Manage Engine Firewall Analyzer($395, Multi-Platform).

There is always Splunk but it sounds like a lot of work to get what I want.

Anyone know of any OSS to parse & report syslog firewall messages? Will Base do syslog messages. I have a Sonicwall firewall and want to get some reporting without breaking the bank. What about Nagios?
