It won't but I always thought that statement needed to be in the host file. Every install of Redhat and Suse always has that statement in the host file. It places that machine on your internal network and not just a local 127.0.0.0 network.

.23 is this laptop; that machine should be .20 ... I thought I had

How will that tell the machine that it's primary DNS server should be
10.0.0.60, and not 127.0.0.1?
