I'm really curious why the WRT can't still be used. All the WRTs I've had are quoted at 10/100 for the LAN connections and I find it hard to believe the internal switch can govern the WAN port to just 10. If anything you're already running OpenWRT, re-order the ports and make a 10/100 LAN port into your WAN port.
