Re: [PLUG] Lost partition Table - Red Hat Linux

Thanks everyone and keep the suggesting coming if you have them. The
most bizarre part of this is that this is one LUN out of 5 that is
having issues. They are all on a set of Dell Powervault 220's and all
the Logical volumes show "optimal" in the bios config utility.

Here is some follow up, i ran both the gpart and the rescuept
programs: log files below.

[root@tdt51 root]# cat gpart.log

Begin scan...
End scan.

Checking partitions...
Ok.

Guessed primary partition table:
Primary partition(1)
   type: 000(0x00)(unused)
   size: 0mb #s(0) s(0-0)
   chs: (0/0/0)-(0/0/0)d (0/0/0)-(0/0/0)r

Primary partition(2)
   type: 000(0x00)(unused)
   size: 0mb #s(0) s(0-0)
   chs: (0/0/0)-(0/0/0)d (0/0/0)-(0/0/0)r

Primary partition(3)
   type: 000(0x00)(unused)
   size: 0mb #s(0) s(0-0)
   chs: (0/0/0)-(0/0/0)d (0/0/0)-(0/0/0)r

Primary partition(4)
   type: 000(0x00)(unused)
   size: 0mb #s(0) s(0-0)
   chs: (0/0/0)-(0/0/0)d (0/0/0)-(0/0/0)r

[root@tdt51 root]# cat rescuept.log
# partition table of /dev/sdd
# total size 213061632 sectors
unit: sectors
# 0 MB candidate ext pt (type 5): sectors 854- 854
# 242739 MB found in ept (type 7e): sectors 917-497129632
# retracted
[root@tdt51 root]#

This seems like bad news. I have not run testdisk because it seg
faults with a kernel error: so my next step is to try the
SystemRescueCd

[root@tdt51 root]# testdisk
FATAL: kernel too old
Segmentation fault
[root@tdt51 root]# uname -a
Linux tdt51.apfc.net 2.4.9-e.57enterprise #1 SMP Thu Dec 2 20:45:51
EST 2004 i686 unknown
[root@tdt51 root]#
