I bought for my children:

both work beautifully in Linux(Ubuntu).  In fact neither one worked well 
in WinXPPro!

Under no circumstance should you use them in MacOSX.  MacOSX has a 
notorious habit of writing hidden files every where it traverses a 
directory.  If one of these hidden files ends up in the root file system 
of the device the device will stop working and will simply lock it up.  
I learned the hard way :-(.
