Actually a power connector has got some metal to it. If you have one of those super pointy tips on your iron you might want to change it out for a bigger, shorter more stubby one. Eric is right speed is very important. You want to heat/unheat the metal as quickly as possible. I'm always torn between a little more power on the soldering iron which gives you less contact time, and less power with more contact time. If you can rig a fixture to already have things held together that will makes things much easier as well. Even just an extra set of hands via a pair of needle noses can be very helpful. I'm always finding myself wishing I had an extra arm when soldering. Also, get the pets out of the room. Cats & dogs can ruin a good solder job plus they can hurt themselves. I say this as my 2 cats just ran across my desk in front of the computer screen.
