So back to the original topic, I rolled out Netdisco about three years ago. In a Redmond environment as well as nicer parts of town, it's handy as heck. It pulls port information and arp caches from your switches so you know what's plugged in where, it pulls DNS and NetBIOS information as well so you can see who logs in. We only use it once in a while but when you need it it's enormously useful.
