The sort command I grew up with has a +n option, where n is the field (usually space delimited) to key the sort on. Currently, the options imply I have to create a key character-position by character-position; how do I do that with random-length data? (I'm analyzing log files and I'm used to piping them through this ALL THE TIME HOW COME NOW THIS IS BORKEND)? seriously, is this a bsd-ism, or something? thanks ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
