Yes, it's just the way Google markets it that vexes me the most. We(Google) are doing you a favor, making the internet faster for the world(warm fuzzy world, with hugs, kisses and purple unicorns). When actually they aren't, just making themselves more money. I personally wouldn't use either Google or OpenDNS; for the simple reason that their dns servers are farther away(more hops), than my isp's.
