Re: [PLUG] Starting a holy war (MS SFU vs. Cygwin)

I've never tried MS Services for Unix, but I love Cygwin.  My work laptop is Windows XP and I have Cygwin installed.  I like running a bash prompt in Cygwin via Console ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/console/ ).  It gives me all the command-line goodness (bash, grep, sed, awk, pipes) I want, plus SSH access to my Windows system.

What I like least about Cygwin is that you cannot install binary apps from inside of Cygwin (like yum or apt).  Instead you need to run the setup.exe utilitiy.

Like I said though - I cannot compare it to MS Services for Unix.

one or will both coexist. Any opinions from the group? Is there a group
collective on this?
