I tried it out but my system was in a perpetual state of swap (even after disabling KDE 4's more obnoxious features like file indexing). Granted, this is a pretty busy system, but I've used it that way for a long time, and if I can rebuild the kernel and chromium without killing performance, then my desktop manager certainly should be able to "just work."
